See? Lots more sock yarn!

Socks for Susan to pick from

Hi Susan,

The solidish ones are already spoken for, but the other two are available if you like them. If you don't, we'll take a look at some other kinds. Don't hesitate to say if you want something different, really!

See you soon!

Easy Grey Hat

Pattern: my own
Started: 10-18-06
Finished: 10-19-06
Materials: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Worsted Weight, the amount left over after knitting a long sock
Needles: Size 8 double-pointed

Cast on 78 stitches.
Work 15 rows of k2p2 rib.
K two rows, purl one row, then k2 rows so ribbing will fold up easily.

Change to waffle stitch.
Waffle stitch: row one - k1p1
row two - k
row three - k

Repeat these three rows 13 times for a total of 39 rows.

Begin decrease.
Row one:
First needle - k1, k2tog, k until last three st on needle, then ssk, k1
Repeat for second and third needles.

Row two:
First needle - k9, k2tog, k2, ssk, k to end of needle
Repeat for second and third needles

Repeat these two rows (on row two, changing number of stitches knit at start of needle so that you are always decreasing at the center of the needle) until there are too few stitches to decrease in this manner.

Decrease however you like at this point, until there are 3 st left, then pull yarn through with tapestry needle to bind off.
